Five things to consider if your heating stops working.
Your heating has stopped working and the cold nights are drawing in, it’s the last thing you need! Check out these five common reasons that your heating has stopped working to see if they help.
Is yours turned on? Try turning it up! Check both your room and boiler thermostats are working. If not, give Southern Energy Solutions a call and we will do our best to solve the problem ASAP.
Make sure the display is working and that the time is correct. If the clocks have changed, make sure you change the timer! Same goes for power-cuts, which are far too common in East Sussex – always check if your timer needs a reset.
Try and reset the boiler by cutting the power supply for a minute, then turn it back on. Check the pressure on the boiler- this should be consistent. If these tricks don’t work, then you’ll be needing a qualified engineer to come out to you for a boiler breakdown.
Make sure that you bleed them regularly to prevent issues. If they are cold and you’ve adjusted the settings you may have a faulty valve. This can be resolved quickly by a qualified plumber.
If the weather is extremely cold, your condensate pipe may be frozen. Turn off the main stoptap and use a hairdryer to gently warm it. Be careful it is not defrosted too quickly as pipes can burst! Follow our handy video here made by Zak, our director.
